Remfrey Educational Consulting

Our partner, April K Remfrey of Remfrey Educational Consulting, focuses her time working with international schools and globally mobile families with neurodiverse children. She works with international schools to help improve their inclusive practices through PD and the use of her progress monitoring tool. April was a teacher for over 20 years in three countries and has experience in the public, private, and international school environments.

A US citizen, but a resident of Switzerland since 2013, April has been a teacher for over 20 years in three different countries, teaching general education as well as extensively with students K-12 who have additional learning needs such as Autism, learning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities.

Throughout her tenure, she noted a pervasive struggle, for families and school staff, to clearly and concisely communicate students’ needs. I observed that when students transfer from one school to another or progress from grade to grade, the story was often lost.

The good news is that these problems can be overcome with the right level of preparation and support!

April brings all of this knowledge and experience to the relationship she creates with families and schools to address individual needs and concerns.

Behavioral Family Coaching

Our partner, Sharoya Ham, M.Ed., understands firsthand what families experience when they enter the world of special needs education. The process is often confusing, time-consuming, costly, and emotionally draining. Children with special needs need support, but so do their families.

Sharoya Ham is a Behavior Specialist and founder of Embrace Behavior Change. She provides behavioral coaching for the entire family. Both parents and their children work with Sharoya to create a step-by-step plan to respond to behavioral, educational, and relational challenges at home and school.

Family coaching ensures the home environment provides the structure and consistency necessary for intervention plans to succeed. When everyone in the home works together, tensions are reduced, goals are achieved faster, parent-child relationships are strengthened, and therapeutic appointments taper off. Thus families can spend less time focused on problems and more time enjoying precious moments with each other.

For nearly a decade, Sharoya has shared the secrets she's learned as a special needs mom, veteran teacher, and behavior change specialist, with hundreds of families, using an evidence-based approach called Behavior Skills Training.
